All great works of GOD have humble beginnings so too the Holy Cross Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, like the mustard seed of the Gospel, sprouted and grew slowly but surely and today it is a mighty tree with innumerable birds nesting in its branches.
Its history began on a bright day, the tenth of August, Nineteen hundreds and four, when four valiant French Women, in the white habit of the Sisters of the Cross, Unconsciously holding open umbrellas, walked down the aisle of the Sacred Heart Cathedral, as the band played and the curious town's folk gazed on. Sisters Julie Colette, Mary Francois and Josephine, our noble and indefatigable pioneers raised their hearts in praise and thanks-giving to GOD, who through his church had entrusted to them the task of founding the Holy Cross European School at Tuticorin.
The cradle of the school was the home of our late Bishop Roche Victoria, where the sisters resided till the present site was acquired the following year and two modest buildings were erected for the sisters and the boarders.
IN August 1911, Sister Aline arrived on the scene to play a vital role in the establishment of the school for the next four decades. She was joined by her two sisters, Sister Victorine and Sister Aimee in 1919. The prudence and long range vision of the trio brought into existence the massive chapel, the spacious and the boarding house.

Several thousands, in various walks of life, have passed through the portals of this school and looking back can proudly say, "Next to GOD and my parents this school had made me what I am"
